Valentine's Day
Teen daughter: What did you and Dad do for Valentine’s Day, when you were engaged?
Me: Nothing, there was no Valentine’s Day then. (Meaning, there was no hype in India those days)
Teen son: Er---you were around before St. Valentine?
This is the same boy who once (as a four year old) asked me if there were dinosaurs around when I was a kid!
I feel sixty-five million years old!

Not to worry Lak. Whenver I go to India and people see me next to my older daughter, they call me 'auntie', even if they themselves are only a couple of years younger than me! You are only as young a you feel. Cheer up and don't think like a dino!
So .. were you around before St Valentine? ;)
I know how it feels. Just a few years ago, I referred to a 34 year old as the "older lady"!! And now I am getting there!!! Pretty quickly :-)
the One:Aaaargh! Well, maybe yes, in an earlier birth!
kiwi:Don't I know it? My mom had two kids by the time she was 23, and a 26-year-old unmarried girl used to call her auntie!
keya: I won't be surprised if the sabziwala calls me mataji!
confused: This was not about aging :), but about kids'perception of timelines--everything before they were born is clubbed together as history!
My son asked me the same thing about Hanuman once upon a time.
Haha, I get these ageist insults thrown at me everyday, varying from were there Televsions in your day to did you have calculators in your days etc. What is he talking about, its still my days!
Maybe we should get your kids and mine together next time, sounds like they will get on like house on fire
Hiren, welcome! seriously, Hanuman?
WA, I liked that---it is still my days! You bet!
Funny... I remember that at 5 years old I thought anyone over 30 was old. Now I'm over 40... what does that make me? Ancient?
